Tips For Traveling With Your Bird

 

1. Have your birds wings clipped before leaving.

2. Have your birds health vet checked before leaving.

3. Check laws of other states to be sure your bird is permitted there.

4. Remove swinging toys from cages.

5. Keep the bird in a cage when the vehicle is in motion.

6. Keep to your birds usual feeding and sleep routine.

7. Use a smaller cage than normal, or use a travel carrier.

8. Don't be stressed, or your bird will be stressed.

9. Avoid weather extremes with your bird.

10. Take your bird on short trips first before traveling.

11. Avoid crowds.

12. Alert hotels/planes that you are traveling with a bird.

13. When camping, arrive early to give bird time to settle.

14. Bring a spray water bottle for baths and cooling.

15. Consider adding a rope perch to your birds carrier.

16. Restock your first-aid kit.

17.Keep phone numbers of avian vets along the way

and at your destination.

18. Never let your bird out of your sight.

19. Keep fresh food,water, and fruit in birds dishes.

20. Bring water, seed/pellets that your bird is used to.
