Bug Off !!!!! With Herbs !!!

by Real Macaw Member, Donnah Roder

1. Rue: A perennial bush that has a strong bitter scent - keeps ants away.

2. Lavender (dried in sachets): Has the same effect as mothballs on pests in stored clothes.

3. Basil: In large quantities, planted in sun and wind, releases the natural scent and repels bugs. Also, rubbing leaves or

natural extract oil on skin acts as an insect repellent.

4. Rosemary: Crushed into fine tea-like leaves, added with warm water - used as a rinse on dogs and cats to repel fleas.

5. Peppermint: Has also known to be a tick repellent (fresh leaves ingested).
