Our October speaker will be Dr. Pam Schott from The Animal Hospital of Sussex County.
The title of Dr. Schott's lecture is "From the Trenches - 22 Years of Pet Bird Medicine and Surgery". In this lecture she will present some of the most common, as well as some of the most strange and interesting, issues she deals with in day-to-day avian practice.
Dr. Schott began her avian experience as an employee of a pet shop in her native Ridgewood, NJ during High School; she graduated from Ridgewood High in 1978. During vet school at Cornell, she worked at the Avian Clinic, participating in wildlife rehabilitation as well as pet bird medicine. Since graduating vet school, she has worked with many of the area's most experienced avian veterinarians. Her current position allows her to bring avian medical expertise to Sussex County. Dr Schott is an active member of VIN (Veterinary Information Network) allowing her immediate internet access to consultations with top Avian Veterinarians all over the world. During the post-Katrina animal rescue effort, Dr. Schott treated many caged birds who had been left behind; and, she works with rescues as much as possible in her current position.
