Our June 8, 2006 speaker is Dr. Angela Cristini from the Meadowlands Environment Center.  The title of her talk will be 'The Estuary In Your Backyard'. 

The Estuary in Your Backyard

Where can you see Jets, Herons, Egrets, Diamond Back Terrapins, Blue Crabs, Giants, and the New York Skyline? The Hackensack Meadowlands – not just a place for sports but also a vital urban ecosystem. This talk will introduce the plants and animals that live in this system and discuss its history, present conditions, and the future.

Angela Cristini received her Ph.D. from the City University of New York and has been at Ramapo College for over 24 years. She is a Professor of Biology, directs the Master of Science in Educational Technology Program and the Meadowlands Environment Center.
Dr. Cristini is the project director for National Science Foundation grants which utilize technology to improve the teaching of environmental and earth science in elementary schools. Her latest grant will use video-conferencing to link Senior Centers to the Meadowlands for discussions on environmental issues.
