Our December speakers will be Terri and Caitlyn Jones. Terri and Caitlyn will be speaking on making bird toys. “A busy bird is a happy bird, but it can get quite expensive purchasing the toys that help to keep our birds busy. This seminar will teach the participants how to make toys that will not only keep their birds happy, but also help them to forage and stimulate their minds.” Terri is the Director of the Arcadia Bird Sanctuary and Educational Center. Terri has been involved in aviculture since childhood: her father bred budgies and Terri’s first bird was Pretty Bird, a blue budgie that talked a blue streak! Terri founded Arcadia Bird Sanctuary seven years ago after recognizing the need for a permanent place for birds that could not or should not be rehomed as pets. Terri is a Certified Avian Specialist and has successfully completed the Fundamentals of Aviculture course given by the AFA. Terri is a member of and the NJ State Coordinator for the AFA and a personal member of The Real Macaw Parrot Club, North Jersey Exotic Bird Club, the Staten Island Bird Club, and a founding member of the Jersey Shore Pet Bird Society. Caitlyn has been writing The Fledgling column for Bird Talk magazine since the age of 8. She is active in Arcadia Bird Sanctuary and presents and co-presents to libraries, Scout Troops and other youth groups. She has several birds of her own and works to train them. |
